On the 2nd of November 2024 the world lost the absolute LEGEND that is Geoffrey Ralph Hayes. A loving Husband, Dad, Brother, Pops, Great Popsy and dear friend to many.
A true GOONER, a kind caring and charitable man that changed so many lives for the better. A man that taught every one of us courage, strength and STUBBORNNESS! You never failed to brighten a room with your passion for music, singing and entertaining and your love for TALKING about absolutely anything! You had so many passions from golf to music to your charity and of course your family. A truly inspirational man, that achieved so much throughout his 78 years of life. Even in his final moments, he could still captivate all the family with his humour. We all love you unconditionally and will miss you dearly.
In honouring his wishes, we are planning a small ‘party’ as he called it, to celebrate his life. We would like to invite friends and loved ones to help us celebrate his life and remember him for the amazing man he was.
Please feel free to leave any memories and stories about Geoffrey below for all family and friends to read and cherish.

Lovingly remembering my little brother Geoff. As statistics predict this should never be (ten years difference in our ages) I was responsible and protective of you as a little boy but not always as I should have been especially when I pushed you too hard and you fell off the the rope swing we had made in the woods, they were happy carefree days, but things changed when our mum passed away but I always felt very protective of my younger siblings, Maybe your time in the boys home Fegans inspired you to be co-founder of the children's charity Footprints, remember visiting and seeing the house taking shape, and finally to see you with the children they clearly all loved you and you loved them as you did your family. You lived a full and varied life and you time in the police force. RIP Geoff no longer in pain, loving you always as my little brother, till we meet again. Bye for now Doug Marlene & Family xxx

To my Dearest Brother Geoff. We were very close, we were always together growing up and I still have the fondest of memories that we have shared together. The days spent in the childrens home would have been very different without you. I cannot believe you are gone, but am sure I will see you again one day. Dad you have always been an amazing dad to Melissa and I. Always making us laugh and giving us great advice. When I was struggling with my mental health you were there for me and helped me through the bad times, thank you dad. I remember one time you were in Maidstone hospital and melissa and me visited you, i took the bed controls and lowered your head down without you knowing, you said oh my god whats happening, we laughed after. I loved watching football with u and we always had a bet who would finish higher in the league out of Arsenal and Liverpool, of course that was usually my team Liverpool so you owned me a tenner. After we ate dinner then the chocolate and puddings would come out and we would see who could eat the most. We used to laugh when you used to say to all of us HELLO! I miss you dad. You really were an amazing person, you were so kind to people and people really loved you. Sleep easy I will see you again love you xx Emma

Uncle Geoff, I'm so sad that you are no longer here, but relieved that are no longer suffering. It was so good to talk to you just a few days before you left us all. We shared some happy and funny memories. You always made me smile and laugh both as a child and adult. My memories of you are of a kind, caring, funny, and loving man with a big heart; you always called me your 'darling girl' which made me smile. A man who loved his family so much and loved helping others. I loved it when you dressed up as Elvis and sang and played the guitar. I think of you now somewhere in the great beyond twinkling like the star named for you on your 70th birthday and being the great entertainer. Thank you for happy memories Uncle Geoff. Rest in peace. With love from your niece 'darling girl' Sharon Xxx

To my Uncle Geoff. You were the best kind of Uncle. Funny, caring and always had a great story to tell! I always got so excited knowing that you were coming down to visit us during the school holidays! You weren't keen on my early choice of football team (Man U) and I can remember you calling me up one day just to express your joy for me converting to Arsenal 🤣 I also remember you playing guitar and singing (possibly Elvis?) at Grandads funeral. In fact, that is one of my earliest memories. My Dad (your brother Eddie) has told me so many stories over the years of you both growing up together. He was very lucky to have such a caring and supportive brother through some difficult times 😊 I'm so sorry that I didn't get to see you much over the last few years, but I know you are in peace with loved ones now, and will always cherish every moment we spent together. Rest in Peace Uncle Geoff. Love from Reece ❤️

Pops, It's taken me a little while to be able to write to you as I wasn't entirely sure what to say. But here goes... Heaven has gained a true 'pop star'. The man you were has taught me so many values in life and helped shape me into the woman I am today and for that I will forever be grateful to you. Strong, courageous, inspirational, charitable, kind, charismatic, humorous, witty and of course your most redeeming quality STUBBORN! You truly were idolised by me and really live vividly in so many memories from my early childhood, right up until your last moment's. I'll never forget the endless holidays to Disney, Bracklesham, Butlins (the list goes on and on) we went on and the amazing memories we have. You really were the best Pops that went above and beyond to make sure all the family always had the best time. Your entertaining demeanour and charisma really did light up the room and I loved being a part of that from such a young age with you. The bond we shared through music and singing I will hold dearly in my heart for the rest of my days. I will never forget the countless singing competitions and performances we shared together and the roar of applause, as well as the standing ovations you would always get. What magical moments we shared. My love for music and passion for singing always came from you and I will forever be eternally grateful. I didn't get chance to tell you but Arlo is following in our footsteps Pops, he's thriving at school in music and comes out beaming from his musical theatre club weekly. He reminds me so heavily of me and how I use to look to you. Marnie also loves to belt a tune or too in the car or bath, and now sings you 'Happy heaven day to Popsy' daily. I promise I will show you as a role model and nurture them on in there musical paths like you did me. Oh, how I wish we could have done one last song together. Maybe one day in the future Popsy, 'somewhere over the rainbow'. I hope you know how loved you was and how myself, Reece and the two grand babies absolutely adored you. We wish we had spent so many more hours with you but I know the time we did spend together was even more precious. I refuse to say goodbye as I don't want to say goodbye forever. So in true Pops fashion I'm going to say 'bye for now'. Bye for now Popsy. Until we meet again, I love you Xxxxxxxx

As we all know Pops was such an amazing man. His witty jokes, his ability to sing, his kind heart and his love for all of his family never went unnoticed. It is a shock and hard on us all but Pops lives through us all and he will do forever. My heart aches knowing that he is no longer with us but I also know that wherever he is, he will be living his best life with Auntie Linda and his two doggies. He will be looking down on all of us, guiding us through this painful process. I've got so many wonderful, funny, happy memories with my Pops that I will cherish forever. Ones that make me smile and laugh when I think about them, stories I tell with immense pride because my Pops was and forever will be an absolute legend. We will meet again one day, I dont know where and I don't know when but we will meet again one sunny day. I love you Pops, forever and always❤️ Love from Granddaughter number 2 xxxx
